Have I mentioned how much I love SparkleSkirts? I haven’t? Well, shame on me! Shame, I say!
I was introduced to these little beauties via various running websites/blogs and discussion boards, and they’ve been a revelation.
But let’s step back: I have a question. Why on earth are girls now obsessed with their thighs not touching? I mean, why is that such a point of focus these days? Don’t get me wrong, I harbour no malice against those with thighs whose apparent aversion to touching each other mirror my own feelings on sharing bare skin contact with a stranger in a hot taxi van in Columbia (shudder), but my thighs DO touch. They touch for realz. All up and down my legs.
As much as I like those cute little boy shorts, or fun running shorts, thanks to the close relationship my thighs have with each other, these styles are not for me. I’ve been a solid capri-pant wearing runner from day one. So that meant that in the summer time, I was a HOT runner. So miserably hot.
So imagine my curiosity when the concept of SparkleSkirts first came to my attention. A built in semi-compression short under a flattering skirt. Those who wore them gushed about the large pocket sewn onto each leg and the ample zippered pocket built into the waistband. Like cargo shorts, but cute and flattering.
My interest was piqued. I contacted Leah Powell (The Queen Mum of Sparkle) and found out that she was offering mini-trunk shows during the 2013 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend – talk about amazing service! I bought one skirt online (Dolotech) and arranged to have it dropped off at our hotel so I could wear it to the WDW Marathon Weekend Meet-Up. I’ve since worn it golfing, as well.
But I also arranged for the trunk show treatment, because, skirts! Leah’s husband, Tom brought a rack full of skirts over to our room at the Saratoga Springs Resort, and Rachael and I tried on skirts galore.
We both ended up with skirts we would wear in the half marathon that weekend:
Now I own a total of 4 SparkleSkirts, not the least of which is sweet little SpaceWalk which I wore during the Niagara Falls Half Marathon, and I plan to wear again (restyled, son!) for the Space Coast Marathon in 10 days.
Why am I telling you all of this now? Because I just got some really great news via email from SparkleSkirts HQ: Black Friday is coming early.
